Plus Size Long Sleeve Wedding Gowns

October 17, 2008

Plus size long sleeve wedding gowns can hide the arms, but are also great for a chillier winter wedding. For a winter wedding choose a dress with sleeves that are the same or thicker fabric as the dress. A long sleeve wedding gown for summer would be better suited to sleeves of lightweight fabric such as chiffon, organza or lace for a light covering on the arms.Even with sleeves the plus size wedding dress can have any sort of neckline from a high round neck which looks formal and elegant to a low plunging neckline, which will draw the eye away from larger areas such as the hips. Many plus size brides prefer a simple v-neck or sweetheart shape neckline which is more flattering to a large chested bride.

Plus size wedding dresses come in lots of shapes and styles. From strapless or halter neck shapes, to gowns with short sleeves or long sleeves. Many women, large or small do not like their upper arms exposed, so sleeves are a great idea.

Below are a few examples of dresses with sleeves. The styles are all different and would suit a wide age range of plus size brides.

Plus Size Bridesmaid Dresses

October 4, 2008

Now you have picked out your dress, you need now to look for bridesmaid dresses and these may be plus size bridesmaid dresses. When deciding what style to choose, think about the different areas of the body as you did with your own dress. No matter what size your bridesmaids, talk to them about what shapes and styles they would prefer to wear. They may not want to have bare arms if they are bigger, even some smaller ladies are very conscious about showing off this area. They may prefer to wear a shorter style dress than a full length. It is important to have your bridesmaids happy in what they are wearing so that they are comfortable and confident all day. If they are happy they will appear confident, and if they are confident they will be happy.

The dress below from is a great choice if you are having several bridesmaids. This simple style will flatter any shape, size or age. If comes in over 50 different colors, and sizes from Junior size 8 to womens size 28. It is a classic simple style with short sleeves to hide the arms. The v-neckline to the front and back is a unusual detail, whilst the empire line elongates the body whilst hiding any odd lumps and bumps.

Bridal Plus Size - Wedding Shoes

October 3, 2008

Let’s take a look at some other items relating to bridal plus size. There is a huge variety of shoes that could be worn with your choice of plus size bridal outfit. For the plus size bride, who may require a wide or extra wider fitting and a larger size shoe, there is still a great choice of styles around these days, from flats, kitten heel, high heels, sandals, court shoes, mules, slingbacks and slides. And if you need a different color, you can always choose a dyeable pair.

Firstly remember that you are going to be wearing them all day and you are going to be on your feet for most of that day.  Choose a style which is comfortable for you.  If you are used to walking around in 4″ heels all day, then all well and good, but if you are not, don’t choose them and expect to be comfy.  Also remember you need to take into account your wedding location.  Again big heels are not a good idea if you are getting married on grass or on the beach.

Some women are not comfortable in flat shoes. Choose a heel or style that is comfortable for you and is appropriate for your big day. Think about how tall you are, do you want to wear heels that will make stand taller than your man on the day ? In this case flat or lower kitten heels may be your choice. You may could even choose to wear a more sturdier chunky heel pump or sandal which can still be glamorous, with added details of rhinestones, diamantes or sequins to add a little bling.

There are also shoes and sandals that have hidden instep support and padding, which will help to ease those aching feet after a long day and the night still to dance away !

Take a look at Designershoes.com who have a huge range of bridal footwear in sizes upto 13, with wide and extra wide fittings.

Wedding Gown Plus Size

October 2, 2008

Not all of us are the same. We are not the same shape, same height or same coloring, we don’t have the same personalities. What I like you may not like and vice versa. Every wedding gown, plus size or not, will reflect something of your personality.
We all want to look gorgeous on our big day, but we should also be ourselves, shouldn’t we ? So what about a plus gown that is not the usual ? Think about the length, the color aswell as the shape. Today women choose to buy vintage dresses, to wear tea length dresses, or even a suit.
In the Sex And The City movie, Carrie eventually got married in an un-named vintage suit. This was her style, so follow your own style.
Your plus size wedding dress can be old, can be new, may be colored, even blue… What I am trying to say is ‘be yourself !’

Take a look at these three very different types of wedding gown. Plus size women now have a far greater choice of wedding dress styles to choose from than they have ever had before.

Bridal Plus Size

October 1, 2008

Bridal Plus Size covers all of the wedding party, from the Bride and Bridesmaids, to the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the groom.

Today I am going to talk about dresses for the Bride. When buying bridal plus size dresses or full figured bridal gowns, finding the right dress and the right fit can often be a challenge. Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and a bride, no matter what her dress size, should not have to settle for a second best plus size bridal gown.

Plus size wedding gowns are designed with the shape of real women in mind, so that your plus size bridal dress will flatter your curvaceous figure. Many of these plus size gowns are also designed with larger women in mind when it comes to desing such as straps, or cap, or long sleeves to cover bra straps, or hide upper arms. They also fit correctly at the waist and hip and often feature details which draw the eye away from problem areas like the tummy or hips, and instead can accentuate the waist by use of boning , beading or embroidery to draw the eye up towards the face.

It is important to think about this detailing and what type of lingerie you will wear on the day when choosing your dress.

Wedding Plus Size

August 13, 2008

When it comes to organizing the perfect wedding, plus size women often struggle finding their perfect wedding gown. Just like any other woman, they want a dress with a good fit and in a style they like. All women want to look their best on their wedding day. Now with more choices available, curvy chicks can do this easily from the comfort of their own home via the internet.

A few years ago when preparing for their wedding, plus size brides had to make do with a simple styled gown in heavy satin or chiffon due to the high cost of fabric and designers did not seem willing to make plus size bride dresses. Today designers are realising there is a market for larger size clothes, especially wedding dresses for the voluptuous bride. So creating plus size gowns specifically for fuller figured women.

Finding your plus size wedding dress should not be a difficult task and should be part of the fun preparations for your wedding day. Knowing your body shape and the points which you want to accentuate or disguise, is the key to finding the perfect plus size gown. Although you want to look like a princess at your wedding, plus size brides should avoid gowns with lots of frills and bows as these will make you look bigger. Simple shapes that accentuate your bust, neck, arms or shoulders will flatter the figure rather than hiding under layers of heavy fabric. The style of the dress has to be right for you. The more confident you feel, the happier you will feel and the more beautiful you will look on the day !
